FitFact: The top 3 exercises to help you celebrate August 1 and stay in top shape 🇨ðŸ‡ðŸ’ª
August 1st is just around the corner and what could be better than spending the Swiss national holiday in an active and healthy way? Hiking in the magnificent Swiss countryside is a fantastic way to enjoy the boundless beauty of our country and stay fit at the same time. And if you can’t make it to the Alps, you can do so with our Swiss-inspired exercises in the gym – no excuses! 😉 Here are our top 3 exercises that not only pay homage to Helvetia, but also get your fitness in shape:
3) Wood Choppers
Let’s celebrate August 1st with the power of Swiss woodchoppers! With the Wood Choppers you can train your lateral abdominal muscles and shoulders. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and hold a weight (e.g. a dumbbell) with both hands. Start with the weight over your right shoulder and move it diagonally down to your left hip as if you were chopping wood. Repeat this 10-15 times per page and imagine that you are preparing wood for a campfire on the Rütli!
2) Mountain Climbers
The Swiss Alps send their regards! Mountain Climbers are a great cardio exercise that strengthen both endurance and abdominal muscles. Start in a plank position and alternately bring your knees to your chest as if you were climbing a mountain. Keep the pace high and do this exercise for 30-60 seconds to get your heart rate up. Feel like a mountaineer on your way to the Matterhorn!
1) (Swiss) Jackknife
Shape your body with the precision of a Swiss army knife! This exercise is perfect for strengthening your core and improving your flexibility at the same time. Lie on your back, stretch your arms above your head and your legs straight out. Raise your arms and legs at the same time until they meet above your stomach and then slowly lower them again. Repeat this 10-15 times for an effective abdominal muscle workout – as sharp and precise as a Swiss army knife!
With these three exercises, you can celebrate Switzerland in style and take your fitness to a new level at the same time. Whether you’re indoors or outdoors, enjoying nature or working up a sweat in the gym – these exercises will get you in shape for Swiss National Day. We wish you a great August 1st and lots of fun training!
