For many athletes, the Olympic Games are an absolute highlight in their career. They work towards the games for a very long time and only get the chance to prove themselves on the Olympic stage once every four years at best. Athletic success depends largely on countless hours of training. Athletes spend many of these hours in gyms, including those operated by ACTIV FITNESS.
We’re delighted to introduce you to three of our athletes. They give you an insight into their training methods and what their preparations for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris look like. Let them inspire you:
Dimitri Marx, canoeist
25-year old Dimitri Marx is currently regarded as an outstanding talent in Swiss canoeing. Despite his young age, he has already achieved numerous international successes and is training very hard to realise his Olympic dream.
An essential part of his preparation is strength training, which is indispensable for success in canoeing. That’s why he can be found in various ACTIV FITNESS studios, where he has benefited from the partnership between Swiss Olympic and ACTIV FITNESS for years. He particularly appreciates the consistent design of the machines, thanks to which he can quickly find his way around, regardless of which studio he is using.
Petra Klingler, rock climber
Petra Klingler, a professional rock climber and trainer from Switzerland, is the leading figure in international rock climbing. Petra Klingler has had a strong influence on sport climbing in Switzerland and is considered the shining star of recent years. This summer she will end her competition career and turn to outdoor climbing.
As the grand finale of her career, she is aiming to qualify for the Olympic Games in Paris, which brings her sporting career full circle: she achieved her greatest career success to date in 2016 when she won the world championship title – also in Paris.
Timothé Mumenthaler, sprinter
At the age of 21, Timothé Mumenthaler is the rising star in Swiss athletics. The sprinter has already celebrated various successes at major junior events and will be competing at elite level in the future. The Olympic Games are also a big dream for him, for which he is completing numerous training sessions alongside his university studies.
Since explosiveness is an extremely important success factor for him as a sprinter, strength training is very important. That’s why he can regularly be found in various ACTIV FITNESS studios, where he always finds the ideal conditions for his training.
